Sally Hansen "Celeb City"

Hi guys!  I hope everyone is enjoying the last few days of May!  I know I have been enjoying the warmer weather!  So in my last post I talked about one of my best friend's wedding last weekend.  Since I was a bridesmaid in the wedding I had a gorgeous lavender colored dress and silver shoes.  So I decided to wear Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear nail polish in "Celeb City" on my nails for the wedding.  (And it looked super pretty!)

Sally Hansen "Celeb City" is this fabulous shiny silver nail polish color that really shines in the light!  I love "Celeb City" because it goes on opaque in two coats and has a really cool shimmery effect!  I have had good luck with the formula of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear nail polishes and for about $4 (US) a bottle it is a very affordable nail polish!  In terms of chipping it took about five days for the tip chipping to start, however I had already accidentally dented several of the nails by going to bed while the nail polish was still slightly damp.

Overall I really like Sally Hansen "Celeb City."  I wear this nail polish often, in fact like half the bottle has been used up!  I would definitely recommend "Celeb City" to everyone!  It is a fun color that can be worn year round and can be dressy or relaxed and fun!

Oh and just for fun here is a picture of me at the wedding: (and if you look closely you can see Sally Hansen "Celeb City" on my nails!)

Maybelline "Twilight Rays"

Hi everyone!  Sorry it has been a few days longer than I would have liked, but one of my best friends got married over the weekend and I had bridesmaid responsibilities!  The wedding turned out lovely and was tons of fun!  So I did my nails for the rehearsal dinner and then re-did my nails the next day for the wedding.  So for the rehearsal I decided to wear Maybelline's "Twilight Rays."  I like that is it black with a fun gold shimmer!

So to help Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" be easier to get off I decided to first do a coat of solid black nail polish and then one coat of "Twilight Rays" on top.  For the solid black nail polish I chose Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in "Black Heart."  "Black Heart" went on in one coat and covered very well!  I was super impressed and then Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" went on very easy as well.  I was worried the glitter would make the nail polish hard to handle but I am happy to report that that was NOT the case!  I was also worried that since this was black nail polish it would stain my skin and nails but it didn't and removing the nail polish was also very quick and simple!  For a glitter nail polish I was very impressed with how fast it was to remove!  As for chipping I honestly can't tell you because I only wore the nail polish 8 or 10 hours because I had to change it quickly for the wedding the next day.

As for how shimmery Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" is here is a picture of it in sunlight.  I found the nail polish to be very shimmer and fun!

Overall I am very happy with Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" and Sally Hansen's :Black Heart."  I plan on wearing both polishes again together and separate!

China Glaze "White on White"

Hi everyone!  I can't believe May is halfway over!  This year seems to be flying by!  So earlier this year I purchased one of China Glaze's Ombre sets and in this set was the nail polish "White on White."  (The Set is called "Wait Til You See!" and features 3 teal blue colors and one white and is made by China Glaze.)  Now I am very excited to try the Ombre set out, but I decided to try China Glaze's "White On White" on its own to see if it can be used in nail art.  And because white nails for Spring have been popular this year!

I am always looking for a good white, so I decided to test out "White on White" to see how it would work as a base for glitter polishes, and let's just say I am less than impressed.  First off "White on White" kept separating and the formula was very watery.  In the bottle the polish looks fine but even after shaking the bottle several times and applying the polish to several nails there was no consistency in the formula.  Also because of its watery ways it dripped ALL over the place, which was awful!  I could not get any even coats because sometimes the brush held a lot of polish and other times it held none and I always dip the brush, pull it out and lightly swipe the excess back into the bottle.  And what nail polish did stay on my nails was extremely uneven and looked hideous!

I thought maybe this was just a one time occurrence or I wasn't at my best the first time I tried China Glaze's "White on White" so I decided to give the polish a second go.  On the second go the nail polish was a little better, but I still found the formula to be watery and difficult to control.  And in the end "White on White" was still so streaky!  I am pretty sure it cannot be worn on its own ever.  (Though I did wear it by itself for this post and it wasn't as awful as I thought, but that being said I probably won't do it again!)  As for chipping China Glaze's "White on White" surprised me and lasted four days before I even started to see any chips!  And even then the chips were very minor, mostly tip chips!  However what I did notice was that white nail polish, much like red nail polish, shows every little chip and flaw.  So even minor tip chips were pretty obvious.

Overall I am not too impressed with China Glaze's White on White" and I probably won't wear this nail polish too often, but I was pleasantly surprised with how little chipping occurred!  But in the end I bought this nail polish because I liked the other three colors in the four piece Ombre set.  If you are looking for a good white nail polish I would definitely NOT suggest China Glaze's "White on White" but I would suggest Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail polish in "White On."  It is less expensive but goes on well and leaves almost no streaks.

So side note about the China Glaze 4-piece Ombre sets.  They are amazing!  It is four FULL SIZED bottles of China Glaze nail polish and I managed to get mine for $12 (US)!  Which means that each bottle of polish was roughly $3 (US), and that is a fantastic deal because usually full sized China Glaze nail polishes cost about $5-$6 (US) a bottle!  So I suggest grabbing these Ombre sets if you can!  :)

Nicole by OPI "Selena"

Hi everyone!  We are halfway through May here and it is still freezing cold! Which is pretty insane for the South!!  I keep hoping the temperature is going to warm up soon!   This week I am finally trying out some of the Nicole by OPI Selena Gomez collection!  I am super excited!  I searched forever to get my hands on them and I am super thrilled to have found a few!  This week since Summer is nearly here (theoretically) I decided to wear the signature color of the collection "Selena."

Nicole by OPI "Selena" is the fabulous grapefruit pink color!  It is perfect for Summer and such a happy color!  The formula is fantastic and went on very easily and I like the wide brush that Nicole by OPI use in their nail polish.  It is wide enough to get the nail polish on my nail evenly but not too wide that it is difficult to maneuver.  "Selena" went on and was opaque in two coat and had no streaking!  As for chipping it only took about three days to crack and start falling off in decent sized chunks.  I am definitely disappointed by how quickly "Selena" chipped, but at the same time I am not very nice to my nails!

Overall Nicole by OPI's "Selena" is a great nail polish.  I adore the gorgeous grapefruit color and the formula and brush are definitely what makes Nicole by OPI such a good brand!  But "Selena" did chip pretty quickly, which made me sad.  However since the color and formula are so great I don't mind repainting my nails so often!

OPI "Gargantuan Green Grape"

So this week I decided to rock an OPI nail polish.  It had been a while and I couldn't resist pulling out one of my long time favorites!  During the Spring and Summer I often rock blue and green nail polish and OPI "Gargantuan Green Grape" is no exception to that!  I have had this bottle of nail polish for a while now and I usual wear it on my toes because it matches my favorite pair of flip flops perfectly but this week I decided to try it out on my fingers!

First off OPI's "Gargantuan Green Grape" is this pale neon lime green.  Now I know that sounds like a weird combo but it is true.  It is a lime green that looks pale in the bottle but is very bright like a neon when you put it on!  And unfortunately just like most neons "Gargantuan Green Grape" is very VERY streaky!  I applied two coats and the streaks are hideous and very obvious!  It is a bit disappointing and the formula isn't so stellar but it is a fun bright nail polish!  As for chipping it started almost instantly!  By the end of day two, giant chunks had been chipped away from the tips of my nails.  I was super disappointed by how quickly OPI's "Gargantuan Green Grape" got ruined.

Overall I adore this nail polish on my toes (probably because the streaking is far less noticeable) but OPI's "Gargantuan Green Grape was a huge let down on my fingers.  The color is pretty but it only goes downhill from there.  The formula is awful and the streaking causes extremely uneven coats and looks awful!  And then the nail polish starts to chip after only one day!  I do absolutely love "Gargantuan Green Grape" and its pretty color but I will most definitely only be wearing this nail polish on my toes from now on!

Zoya "Sooki"

Happy May!  So now that April is over we are getting closer and closer to Summer!  And I am super ready for Summertime weather and activities!  So to start off May I decided to rock a fun bright red by Zoya called "Sooki."  When I saw this color I thought it was nice but I knew I had to have it when I saw its name!  I am a huge Gilmore Girls fan (probably gives you an idea of how old I am) and I own all of the seasons!  For those of you unfamiliar with the show, it is a show based around a mother and daughter duo who live in a small town in New England.  Anyways one of the main characters is a lady named Sookie.  Now the spelling is different but the name of the Zoya nail polish reminds me instantly of the character who is fun, bright, and happy!  Basically I adore Zoya's "Sooki"!  :)

Anyways the application of Zoya's "Sooki" was stellar!  Very easy and almost a one coater, though I opted for two as I almost always do.  I will say that while application was easy, clean up is a bit difficult because it is a red nail polish.  Red shows off imperfections really well (isn't that nice...not really) and because of that there are some obvious flaws.  But I can live with that since the formula is so nice!  As for chipping I started to see tip chips after about a day.  And by day three my nail polish was basically destroyed.  Zoya "Sooki" chipped very easily, which was very disappointing since my previous experience with Zoya was much better.  In terms of removing Zoya "Sooki" my nails had some minor stains and the red nail polish got stuck in my cuticles.  It took forever to get it all off!

Overall I still love Zoya and the name Sooki, but I am not the biggest fan of this nail polish.  It was difficult to clean up my nails after painting and I most certainly did NOT appreciate the staining on my nails once the nail polish was removed.  I also did not like how quickly Zoya "Sooki" chipped.  However the color is pretty and the formula is stellar so I will probably wear "Sooki" again, but on my toes.
