Sephora by OPI "Mermaid To Order"

Hi guys and happy Sunday!  Today's nail polish is Sephora by OPI's "Mermaid To Order" which is a very old polish.  Sephora by OPI was retired several years back but for some reason this bottle has been hiding in the back of my collection unused for nearly half a decade.  Look how pretty it is in the bottle:

"Mermaid To Order" is unsurprisingly a blue and green shimmer.  It is very reminiscent of the ocean as the light shines through it.  (Anyone else already waiting on Summer?). The formula of "Mermaid To Order" was fantastic and applied with ease.  After two coats, the polish was completely opaque with only one or two streak marks from the shimmer.  In terms of chipping, I was able to wear "Mermaid To Order" for four days before I noticed a couple of tiny chips.  Look how stunning it is up close:

Overall I really like Sephora by OPI's "Mermaid To Order."  I'm not sure why I waited so long to try this nail polish out!  It will definitely be staying in my collection for a while longer.

90's Geometric Nails

Hey guys and happy Saturday!  Today's nail polish is actually some fun throwback nail art - 90's geometric patterns!  I'm a true 90's kid so I went looking around for some inspiration and found this design:

Anyone else remember when everything came in these types of patterns?  To create a the design on my nails I used these nail polish:

Live Love Polish's "LBD," China Glaze's "Pink Voltage," OPI's "Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet," Color Club's "Tic-Tac-Toe," and Color Club's "Meet Me At The Rink."

To begin the design I used Live Love Polish's "LBD" which looked like this on my nails:

Next I used OPI's "Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet," China Glaze's "Pink Voltage," Color Club's "Tic-Tac-Toe" and Color Club's "Meet Me At The Rink" along with a small brush from Maniology to create some of the larger shapes.  Then my nails looked like this:

After applying a quick drying top coat to seal in the design I used the colored polishes to add in the detail.  Once the detail was added the nails were complete and looked like this:

Overall I like how this design turned out.  Obviously this isn't a design I would wear all the time but it brought back great childhood memories and is a fun look!

Live Love Polish "LBD"

Hi guys and happy Friday!  The weather has been unseasonably warm all week but it has gotten cold again today - so I picked out a solid black.  Without further ado, today's nail polish is Live Love Polish's "LBD" which stands for little black dress (in case you didn't know.)  Here's how the black creme looked in the bottle:

"LBD" is a nice black creme nail polish that can be endlessly used!  The formula of "LDB" was absolutely amazing and applied with ease.  After only a single coat the nail polish was fully opened had no visible streak marks.  In terms of chipping, I was able to wear "LBD" for five days before I noticed a few tiny tip chips.  Look at this beauty up close:

Overall I am so very happy with Live Love Polish's "LBD."  I cannot even begin to describe how perfect this black nail polish is and I plan on using "LBD" until the bottle runs out!

Color Club "Blue Skies Ahead"

Hello everyone and happy Wednesday!  Sorry for being gone for a few days - work got the better of me.  But I'm back now and today's nail polish is Color Club's "Blue Skies Ahead" which is a fund color-changing nail polish!  Here's how the bottle looks:

"Blue Skies Ahead" is a color-changing nail polish that is sky blue when warm and a dark purple when cold.  The formula of this polish was great and it applied with ease.  After two coats, "Blue Skies Ahead" was not entirely opaque and did have several visible streak marks.  In terms of chipping, I was able to wear this polish for three days before there was some noticeable wear and tear.  Here is how "Blue Skies Ahead" looks like when warm/normal temperature:

And after a quick dip in some ice cold water it turned this stunning deep purple color:

Overall I am very pleased with Color Club's "Blue Skies Ahead."  Aside from he polish having streak marks, which is easily fixable with a third coat of polish, everything else was perfect!  I will definitely be wearing "Blue Skies Ahead" again and again!

Blog: Behind The Scenes

Hi all and happy Saturday!  (February arrived so quickly!)  I realized now that I have updated the blog some in the last few months and thought that it might be fun to do another behind the scenes post.  I did one a few years back but since then a lot has changed!

First I finally got a light box (which I started using for posts in 2019).  I ordered the light box off of Amazon for less than $25.  It looks like this:

Aside from the light box I also ordered a macro lens from Amazon to help capture all the glitter and shimmer!  It is just a basic lens but so far it has worked really well!  This macro lense snaps on to my iPhone 6 (and now iPhone 8).  The lens looks like this:

Another major change is how I store my nail polishes.  I used to use Rubbermaid bins but they weren't sturdy enough and took up a lot of space.  About a year and a half ago I made the three hour drive (each way) to the closest IKEA and got a 9 drawer Alex.  It looks great in my room and hold all 700 bottles with plenty of room to spare.

Inside the Alex I have the nail polish sorted by color.  The drawers are as such:

• Supplies, Top coats, Base coats, stamping plates
• Reds and Oranges
• Pinks
• Greens and Yellows
• Blues
• Purples
• Blacks, Silvers and Nudes
• Browns and Glitters
• Mini sets

To keep track of all my nail polish I use a spreadsheet that is organized alphabetically by brand and then alphabetically by polish name within the brand.  The same spreadsheet also has a tab for what and when I post on Instagram.  I find this the most effective way for me to keep track of when I post and what I post as well as the views I am getting.

I also did a few updates on the blog - including adding a signature to the bottom of each post and adding additional photos to give you even more information on the polishes.

Overall I am quite pleased with all the updates and changes.  I have a few more changes to come as 2019 progresses but never fear it is still just the same old me swatch nail polish and attempting nail art!

Sephora Formula X "Infamous"

Hello everyone and happy Friday!  Today's nail polish is Sephora Formula X's "Infamous."  This brand of nail polish was sold at Sephora as their house brand but was a few years back.  Here's how it looked int the bottle:

"Infamous" is a lovely deep purple with a silver and purple shimmer.  The formula of this nail polish was really nice and it applied with ease.  After two coats, "Infamous" was completely opaque with no visible streaks.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Infamous" for four days before there were a few chips.  The micro shows the stunning shimmer:

Overall I am happy with Sephora Formula X's "Infamous."  This nail polish is so lovely and is a great Winter nail polish.  I wish I'd stocked up on additional bottles of Sephora Formula X before they retired the brand.

Essie "Blue-tiful Horizon"

Hello everyone!  Sorry for the delay in posting work has been unusually busy this week!  But I'm back so without further ado, today's nail polish is Essie's "Blue-tiful Horizon."  Here's how pretty it looks in the bottle:

"Blue-tiful Horizon" is a gorgeous dark cadet blue nail polish with a golden shimmer.  It reminds me of the sunset colored sky.  The formula of "Blue-tiful Horizon" was perfect and it applied with ease.  After two coats the nail polish was entirely opaque and streak free.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Blue-tiful Horizon" for five days before there were a couple of tip chips.  Check out the stunning shimmer up close:

Overall I am really happy with Essie's "Blue-tiful Horizon."  Everything about this nail polish is lovely and I plan to wear it all year round!
