NAIL ART: Valentine's Day Hearts

Hi guys and Happy Valentine's Day!  To celebrate the festive day of love I decided to try out a very basic heart nail art.  I started with two nail polishes - Color Club "Star Light, Star Bright" and China Glaze "Living In The Elmo-ment."  Here are the nail polishes in the bottles:

To start the nail art design I used two coats of Color Club's "Star Light, Star Bright."  Here's how the gold holographic base looks:

Next I used a dotting tool to place two dots next to each other with China Glaze's "Living In The Elmo-ment."  Here are how the dots turned out:

After adding the dots I used the same dotting tool to extend the dots into red hearts.  After a quick drying top coat my basic heart nails were complete:

Overall I am really pleased with how this very simple nail art turned out.  It's been a long time since I have attempted any designs so I wanted to go simple - and I have no regrets.  These nails are perfect for today!

Jack-o-latern Nails

Hello guys and Happy (day after) Halloween!  I hope everyone had a fun spooky evening of candy and costumes!  To celebrate the season I decided to do some freehand jack-o-lantern nail art.  Before I began I needed to selected the nail polishes:

OPI's "It's A Piazza Cake" and Live Love Polish's "Luna."

The first part of the design was easy - a nice pumpkin orange base coat.  For this I used OPI's "It's A Piazza Cake" which is the perfect Autumnal orange!  After two coats my nails looked like this:

The final part of the design was the jack-o-lantern faces.  I genuinely enjoy carving pumpkins so this was absolutely fun to create some silly faces on my nails!  To create the faces I used Live Love Polish's "Luna."  The final look was adorable especially up close:

Overall I really like how this design turned out.  It is pretty simple and nothing fancy but it is a nice design for Halloween 2019.

Unicorn Nail Art

Hi guys and happy Saturday!  I've had a busy week at work and decided this weekend needed a little happiness!  So today I decided to try some fun nail art - UNICORNS!  (I couldn't resist.)  I've been seeing these designs all over Instagram and decided to give it a go.  Here are the nail polishes I selected to create this design:

Maniology's "Coconut", OPI's "Pink Ladies Rule The School", Frenchi's "131" and Bundle Monster Colors "Straight Up Black."

First I used Maniology's "Coconut" as the base.  This gorgeous off-white came in one of the Mani x Me monthly subscription boxes.  After two coats my nails looked like this:

Next I used OPI's "Pink Ladies Rule The School" and Frenchi's "131" to create the flower crown and Bundle Monster Colors "Straight Up Black" for the ears and eyes.  Then my nails were adorable.  Here's an up close look at the unicorns:

Overall I am thrilled with how this cute design turned out.  It was an easy design to re-create and was a perfect start to the Halloween season!

City Skyline Nail Art

Hello all!  Here's another post for today and it is a freehand city skyline design!  It has been ages since I have watched the sunset over a big city skyline so I couldn't resist creating it using these two polishes:

Maniology's "Straight Up Black" and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's "Burnished Wine."

To create the design I started with three coats of Sally Hansen Insta-Dri's "Burnished Wine."  Here's how it looked:

After "Burnished Wine" dried I used a nail art brush to apply Maniology's Straight Up Black" to paint on the design.  Look how lovely it looks up close:

Overall I am thrilled with how this design turned out!  It was very easy to create and there's now wrong way to draw a city skyline!  Next time I head to a big city I'll re-create this design!

Emoji Nail Art

Hey guys and happy Monday!  Today's nail polish is actually some nail art featuring emojis!  (We all love to use them so I couldnt resist putting them on my nails!)  Here are the nail polishes I selected to create the design:

Disney for Target's "White", China Glaze's "Lemon Fizz" and "Living In The Elmo-ment", Maniology's "Straight Up Black" and Sinful Colors "Mist-erious."

To create the design I first painted my nails white using Disney for Target's "White."  My nails looked like this:

Next I used China Glaze's "Lemon Fizz" to create the Emoji's faces and China Glaze's "Living In The Elmo-ment" for the heart.  My nails then looked like this:

After that I used Maniology's "Straight Up Black" to add the details.  Here's how some of the emojis looked up close:

Overall I am disappointed in my ability to re-create emojis.  My freehand nails still need some practice.  Maybe I'll try to re-create this design in the future to see if I am improved!  But still the emojis are adorable!

Harry Potter Nail Art

Hey all!  Today's surprise second post features nail art that is an ode to Harry Potter.  (Which is one of my all time favorite book and movie series.)  My plan was to have this for Harry's birthday in July, but that didn't pan out - but better late than never!  Here are the polishes I picked to create this design with:

Sephora Formula X "Boiling Point," Pahlish "Gryffindor" and Bundle Monster Color "Straight Up Black."

First I used Pahlish's "Gryffindor" and Sephora Formula X's "Boiling Point" to paint the base color for the design.  I alternated nails and it looked like this:

Next I used a small nail art brush and "Boiling Point" to create the stripes.  This was followed by Bundle Monster Colors (now Maniology) "Straight Up Black" to create the other three designs.  The designs feature the Deathly Hallows, Harry's glasses, a Gryffindor scarf and Harry's scar.  Here's how it looked up close:

Overall I love how this design turned out!  I think I will re-create this look in January when I go to Harry Potter World at Universal Studios in Florida!  (A birthday treat for myself!)

Zig Zag Nail Art

Hello everyone and happy Saturday!  For the first post today I have some fun and happy zigzag nail art!  I just love zigzag designs!  To create this nail art I picked out some nail polish:

Color Club's "Ahoy Matey," China Glaze's "Lukewarm Wishes," and OPI's "Juice Bar Hopping."

Next I painted my nails using Color Club's "Ahoy Matey" which is a cheery coral.  My nails then looked like this:

Then I decided to add some shimmer to the coral by applying a coat of China Glaze's "Lukewarm Wishes."  I love this combination and it brings a smile to my face whenever I look at it:

The last step was to use a small nail art brush to add the zigzags.  I selected OPI's "Juice Bar Hopping" as orange and coral just scream summer to me!  It took two coats of "Juice Bar Hopping" to have the design pop.  But my nails looked super cute even up close:

Overall I am in love with how this freehand nail art turned out!  It was very easy to create and brightened up days.  What I love most is this look can be created using any color combination, which means I'll be trying it out again soon!

Egyptian Nail Art

Hello everyone and happy Monday!  Today's nail polish is actually Egyptian Nail Art!  (I love Egyptian history!)  So without further ado check out my fun stamped design using these nail polishes:

Bundle Monster Colors "Straight Up Black" and Sinful Colors "Super Nova."

To create the design I actually used two stamping plate - both by Bundle Monster Color (now Maniology.)  The first plate is BM-S250:

The second plate was BM-XL152 called All Around The World:

After picking out the polishes and stamping plate I applied two coats of Sinful Colors "Super Nova" as the base coat.  My nails looked like this:

Next I used Bundle Monster Colors "Straight Up Black" to create the design on each nail.  The final looked turned out better than I could have imagined - plus I just love Egyptian history!  Look at the design up close:

Overall I am very happy with how this stamped nail art turned out!  It was fun to do and I find myself getting better at stamping every time I try a new design, which makes me even happier!  I'm falling more in loved with stamped designs every day because they allow me a level of detail that I cannot seem to get from freehand.

Gilmore Girls Nail Art

Hey all and happy Thursday!  Today's nail art is based on my favorite TV show of all time - Gilmore Girls.  I adore this show as it carried me through my high school and college years.  One of my favorite locations from the show was Luke's Diner so today's nail art is recreating the diner's logo.  First I selected nail polish:

OPI "Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet" and Pahlish "Gryffindor."

After selecting nail polishes I painted two coats of OPI's "Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet" as the base color since the diner has a yellow tea cup sign.  Here's how my nails looked:

Next I used a small paint brush to spell out Luke's using Pahlish's "Gryffindor."  The letters turned out really nicely and completed the design nicely.  Here's an up close of the letters:

USA Flag Nails

Hello everyone and happy Thursday!  Today's nail art celebrates the Forth of July, which is a US holiday that celebrates our independence from Britain.  So I decided to create an ode to the US flag in honor of the holiday.  Here are the nail polishes I selected:

Zoya "Sooki," Disney for Target "White," and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Royal Rage."

After selecting nail polishes I painted two coats of Disney for Target's "White on my middle, ring and pinky finger and three coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Royal Rage on my pointer finger.  My nails then looked like this:

Next I used a small brush to draw on the red stripes with Zoya's "Sooki" and a dotting tool with Disney for Target's "White" to create the stars.  Here's how the design looked up close:

National Donut Day Nail Art

Hello everyone and happy Fri-YAY!  Today is National Donut Day - and as I love donuts I couldn't resist celebrating with some themed freehand nail art!  First I picked out the nail polishes:

Disney for Target's "White," OPI's "You're So Vain-illa," OPI's "Suzi Loves Cowboys," OPI"s "Lima Tell You About This Color!," China Glaze's "Splish Splash," China Glaze's "Lime After Lime" and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Daisy Dukes."

Next I applied two coats of Disney for Target's "White" as the base coat.  My nails looked like this - all ready for some gorgeous looking nail art:

The next step was to use OPI's "Your So Vain-illa" as the base of the donuts.  I used a brush tool from Maniology to create the design:

Then it was time to add strawberry and chocolate frosting to the donuts.  I used OPI's "Suzi Loves Cowboys" and OPI's "Lima Tell You About this Color!" for the frosting.  Then my nails looked like this:

Next up was to add the sprinkles using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Daisy Dukes," Chins Glaze's "Lime After Lime" and China Glaze's "Splash Splash."  The sprinkles added the final touch.  Here's how the donuts looked up close:
