Julie G "Fairytale"

Hi all!  Happy Tuesday!  Today is an exciting day because my longtime friend just became a mommy today!  So to celebrate, today's nail polish is Julie G's "Fairytale."  Julie G is a drugstore brand that I buy at Rite-Aid and it is very affordable costing around $4 (USD) a bottle.

"Fairytale" is a lovely pastel purple polish that looks just so nice on my nails!  The formula of this nail polish was pretty good and easy enough to apply.  After two coats of polish, "Fairytale" was completely opaque and had only the tiniest streak mark here or there.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Fairytale" for four days before there were some tip chips.

Overall I am am pleased with Julie G's "Fairytale."  I often worry when it comes to a pastel but this nail polish turned out to be nearly perfect.  I will definitely be sporting this nail polish again very soon!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Splash"

Hi guys and happy August!  Now that August is here I have finally caught up on all my back logged posts from while I was on vacation!  So without any further ado today's nail polish is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Splash."

"Splash" is a blue and white glitter in a clear base coat.  Formula wise there is too much clear polish and not enough glitter which made it a bit difficult to apply.  However I love the multi-shaded blues paired with white glitter.  Since the nail polish has a clear base I decided to try it out over several creme polishes.  Here's how they turned out:

As with most of my glitters I tested "Splash" over Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "White On" which is of course a white polish.  This combo is pretty good but I did have a hard time getting the polish to dry, even with a quick dying topcoat.

The second combination I tried was "Splash" over Julie G's "Gelato In Venice." which is a mint green color.  This is a nice combination and the mint made the blue glitter pop!

If you want to know more about Julie G's "Gelato In Venice" here is a post from last month: http://perfectlypolished12.blogspot.com/2015/07/julie-g-gelato-in-venice.html

The last combination I tried was Sally Hansen's "Splash" over Orly's "Snowcone."  This combinations screams the beach and waves!  (It's the perfect combo for Summer!)

If you want to know more about "Snowcone" check out my post from last month: http://perfectlypolished12.blogspot.com/2015/07/orly-snowcone.html

Overall I am quite pleased with Sally Hansen's "Splash."  The glitter is a tiny bit difficult to apply but it looks great over a variety of different colored base polishes.  I will definitely wear this again and again!

Julie G "Gelato In Venice"

Hi everyone!  Can you believe it is July already!?!  I can't believe how fast time is flying by!  Since it is hot and the middle fo Summer I thought today's nail polish should reflect that, so I picked an ice cream inspired polish!  So without further ado, here is Julie G's "Gelato In Venice."

"Gelato In Venice" is a pistachio green/mint colored polish.  The color seemed to vary based on the light, but it is a very pretty nail polish.  Formula wise "Gelato In Venice" is nice and very easy to apply.  After two coats of polish "Gelato In Venice" was completely opaque and streak free!  As for chipping I was able to wear this nail polish for about three days before there were some minor tip chips.

Overall I am very pleased with Julie G's "Gelato In Venice."  I love everything about this nail polish and will definitely be wearing it again and again!

Julie G "Holla-Peño"

Hi all!  Happy Monday!  (If there is such a thing!)  Today nail polish is Julie G's "Holla-Peño."

"Holla-Peño" is a fun summery grass green colored nail polish.  Formula wise this polish is a bit thick and it did make it hard to apply.  The brush held a lot of nail polish but when you tried to wipe the excess polish off the brush then there was none left to apply to the nail.  After two coats "Holla-Peño" was nearly completely opaque but there were a fair amount of visible streak marks.  As for chipping I had an almost impossible time getting this nail polish to dry!  Therefore I was unable to wear this nail polish for any amount of time.

Overall I am somewhat disappointed by Julie G's "Holla-Peño" because the formula was tricky to work with, there were streak marks, and since the polish wouldn't dry I couldn't wear it but just to take pictures!  Unfortunately I won't be wearing this nail polish again anytime soon!

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Galaxy Green"

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone in the US is enjoying their three day weekend for Memorial Day!  Since I had some free time I decided to pull out a glitter nail polish!  Today's nail polish is Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Galaxy Green"

"Galaxy Green" is a green flakie/glitter nail polish which means it isn't meant to be worn by itself so I decided to also test it out over a few different colored nail polishes.  But first the formula of "Galaxy Green" is quite nice and it applied very easily and the flakies spread out evenly.  Because this polish is a flakie it was not meant to be opaque however it also never has any visible streak marks.

The first nail polish I decided to try underneath "Galaxy Green" is Julie G's "Holla-Peño."  This look is actually nice and understated but the shimmery effect of "Galaxy Green" was very visible in the light.  (Though it didn't photograph very well.)  I very much liked this combination and would wear it again!

The second nail polish I decided to try underneath "Galaxy Green" is China Glaze's "Cons-ULTA My Manicurist" which is a sky blue creme.  I really loved this combination because it looked like sunlight bouncing off of water, which reminds me of the ocean!  This was easily my favorite out of all the combinations I tried!

The third, and final, nail polish I decided to try underneath "Galaxy Green" is Sally Hansen Hard As Nails' "Black Heart."  This combination looks like outer space and shows off the green flakies!  It is very pretty!

Overall I really like Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Galaxy Green" and how fantastic it looks over a variety of different base colors!  "Galaxy Green" is a fun topcoat and I'll be rocking these combos again!

Julie G "Butterflies & Rosebuds"

Hi guys!  Happy Veteran's Day and thanks to all who serve and have served!  Now that weather is colder I decided to pull out a gorgeous berry colored polish to start off the fun for Thanksgiving in a couple of weeks (at least here in the USA.)  Today's nail polish is Julie G's "Butterflies & Rosebuds."

"Butterflies & Rosebuds" is a deep berry polish with gorgeous gold glitter in it!  It looks gorgeous in the sunlight!  The formula of "Butterflies & Rosebuds" is amazing and it was super easy to apply!  After two coats the polish was completely opaque and had absolutely no visible streak marks!  As for chipping "Butterflies & Rosebuds" lasted about three days before the chipping became so horrible that I had to remove the polish.  (As you can see in the photo above and that was after only a day and a half!)

Overall I am pleased with Julie G's "Butterflies & Rosebuds" because the color is gorgeous, the formula is very nice and easy to apply and after two coats of polish there were no streak marks and the polish was completely opaque!  While I would have preferred to wear "Butterflies & Rosebuds" longer before it chipped, three days isn't too bad.  I will definitely be wearing this polish over and over again!

Julie G "Shark's Cove"

Hi guys!  I can't believe that April is almost over and that Spring is finally in full swing!  A couple of weeks ago I went to the local Rite-Aid and discovered they carry Julie G nail polish, and that it is only $3.99 (USD) a bottle!  I had heard a lot about Julie G but until now had never been able to get my hands on any!  So this week I decided to finally try out Julie G's "Shark's Cove."

Julie G's "Shark's Cove" is a gorgeous aquamarine with a lot of silver shimmer.  It literally looks like sunshine bouncing off of water!  (And happily reminds me of the beach!)  Formula wise "Shark's Cove" was very good and was super easy to apply.  After two coats "Shark's Cove" was nearly opaque and had just a few very minor streak marks.  As for chipping I was able to wear this polish for about four days before it began to chip and scrape off of the tips of my nails.

Overall I am very pleased with my first encounter with Julie G nail polish!  "Shark's Cove" is a gorgeous color, the formula was great, it was opaque and had very few streak marks and lasted a decent amount of time before chipping.  And honestly I don't have anything bad to say about Julie G's "Shark's Cove."  If you are looking for a nice aquamarine polish for Spring, "Shark's Cove" is the way to go and it is very affordable at $3.99 a bottle.
