Zoya "Sarah"

Hi everyone!  I can't believe that July is almost over and that soon it'll be Autumn!  This week I decided to rock out a very fun sparkly red polish!  And that polish is Zoya's "Sarah."

As I said above "Sarah" is a fun red nail polish that is more of a garnet or ruby red color with a lot of matching glitter!  This polish shines and shimmers in the Summer sunshine!  (Seriously it is so gorgeous!)  Formula wise this polish is fantastic!  It applies so easily, which is great because sometimes glitter polishes are difficult to apply.  Also "Sarah" has such a great formula that it can be a one-coater, though like always I applied two coats of nail polish like always.  As for chipping "Sarah" lasted about three days before it started scraping off the tips of my nails.

Overall I have mixed feelings about Zoya's "Sarah" because the formula is amazing and the fact that this polish can be a one-coater is fabulous but I am not a fan of the extreme chipping that occurred on day three.  I will probably give "Sarah" another go and maybe I'll have better luck with the chipping next time.

Covergirl "Skylight"

Hi guys!  Now that Summer is in full swing and the weather is lovely again I decided that I wanted my nails to match the gorgeous sky!  So I picked out Covergirl's "Skylight."

"Skylight" is a pastel sky blue polish and not only reminds me of the sky but also of UNC-CH's Carolina Blue.  (Go Tarheels!)  Anyways the formula of "Skylight" is fair, but after two coats the polish was not opaque and there were a lot of streak marks on my nails.  As for chipping "Skylight" didn't chip as much crack and leave horrible looking lines on many of my nails.  The polish lasted about two days before this happened, which was very disappointing.

Overall I not very pleased with Covergirl's "Skylight."  The color is the best part of this polish but the crack marks after only two days, the difficulty in getting a nice clean even coat and the fact that it was not opaque after two coats was all disappointing.  I am willing to try this polish out again but it is not one of my favorites.

Essie "Full Steam Ahead"

Hi everyone!  We've had a lot of rain this week and the weather feels like Spring, so I decided to pull out a pastel colored polish in honor of the nice weather!  (However I fully expect it to be blazing hot again in a day or two!)  I picked out Essie's "Full Steam Ahead."

"Full Steam Ahead" is a pastel lavender colored polish with a hint of silver shimmer.  Unfortunately the silver shimmer shows up more in the bottle than it does on the nail.  Formula wise "Full Steam Ahead" is pretty good and went on well.  After two coats the polish was almost completely opaque and had no streak marks.  ("Full Steam Ahead" would probably look better with a third coat of polish.)  As for chipping Essie's "Full Steam Ahead" lasted four days before it started coming off in big chunks.  I believe it chipped so quickly because "Full Steam Ahead" because it went on in such thin coats.

Overall I am fairly pleased with Essie's "Full Steam Ahead."  The color is lovely, the formula is good, and the polish lasted four days before chipping.  My only dislike was that it was not opaque after two coats and really would look better with a third coat.  I am willing to wear this nail polish again and next time I will definitely try "Full Steam Ahead" with three coats.

Dupes: Nuance's "Orange Poppy" and Essie's "Clambake"

Hi guys!  This year just seems to be flying by and I can hardly believe we are over half way through 2014!  Earlier this year I purchased two nail polishes, at separate times, and when I set them down next to each other they look almost identical in the bottles, so I decided to see if they were dupes or not!  The two polishes are Nuance's "Orange Poppy" (this is Salma Hayek's brand of nail polish) and Essie's "Clambake."  Here's how they looked side by side in the bottle:

Essie's "Clambake" and Nuance's "Orange Poppy"

Both "Orange Poppy" and "Clambake" are super bright, red-orange, jelly nail polishes that look gorgeous on my nails!  Nuance's "Orange Poppy" has a great formula and was very easy to apply because it has a nice wide brush.  Essie's "Clambake" also has a great formula, but Essie has small brushes so sometimes it makes it a tiny bit harder to apply.  Both "Orange Poppy" and "Clambake" were completely opaque in two coats and left no streak marks!  As it turns out they are dupes, or duplicates, of each other.  I had a hard time telling them apart even after only one coat!

Overall Nuance's "Orange Poppy" and Essie's "Clambake" are dupes in every way!  They have a near identical formula, both are easy to apply, both only required two coats of nail polish to be opaque and streak free and both were easy to remove.  Truly the only difference is the price!  Nuance retails for $5.99 (USD) a bottle and Essie retails for $8.50 (USD) a bottle.  Usually I would tell you which one I preferred more but the truth is I love both of these polishes equally!  My advice: get one, whichever one you can find or can get the best deal on!

Side note:  I tested out Nuance's "Orange Poppy" on its own so here is the post if you want more information about it:  http://perfectlypolished12.blogspot.com/2014/05/nuance-orange-poppy.html

Sinful Colors "Just A Pinch"

Hi guys!  After such a bright color earlier this week I decided to cool things off with a pastel polish.  This week's polish is Sinful Colors "Just A Pinch."

"Just A Pinch" is a pastel, pistachio green, crème polish.  Formula wise "Just A Pinch" is a bit watery, which made it very difficult to apply and a fair amount of nail polish ran off my nail and onto my skin.  After two coats "Just A Pinch" was not opaque and had lots of streak marks.  In terms of chipping I don't know how long Sinful Colors "Just A Pinch" would last because it looked so horrible on my nails I refused to wear it out!

Overall I was disappointed by Sinful Colors "Just A Pinch."  The formula was watery making it difficult to apply, after two coats the polish was not opaque and left streak marks all over my nails.  While the color is lovely I probably won't be wearing "Just A Pinch" again because it was so hard to manage.

OPI "California Raspberry"

Hi guys!  I hope everyone is enjoying their Summer!  It feels like forever since I have worn an OPI nail polish so this week I decided to fix that problem and after digging through the bins of nail polish I found OPI's "California Raspberry."

"California Raspberry" is a gorgeous red raspberry color with a faint hint of silver shimmer.  Formula wise this OPI polish did not disappoint!  After two coats "California Raspberry" was completely opaque, though it was almost a one-coater!  Also I was pleasantly surprised to see that despite the shimmer there were no streak marks on my nails!  As for chipping "California Raspberry" lasted about three days, though I did notice some minor chips and smudging before that.

Overall I am pretty happy with OPI's "California Raspberry."  The formula is amazingly fantastic, was opaque after two coats and had no streak marks.  The only slightly disappointing part was that "California Raspberry" only lasted three days before chipping, and for such an expensive polish I would have liked to have been able to wear this polish longer.  (OPI typically retails for about $10.)

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Mellow Yellow"

Hi everyone!  Since the weather today is dreary at my house I decided to liven it up with a yellow polish!  This week I decided to try out a fun, bright yellow to celebrate Summer, so I picked out Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in "Mellow Yellow."

"Mellow Yellow" is a bright yellow crème nail polish that reminds me of the sunshine and happiness!  The formula of "Mellow Yellow" is really good and it was nice and easy to apply.  After two coats the polish was completely opaque and had zero streak marks, which is pretty nice for a yellow nail polish!  As for chipping "Mellow Yellow" last about three or four days before starting to chip.

Overall I am very happy with Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear's "Mellow Yellow."  The color is bright, fun and perfect for Summer, the formula is lovely and it lasted between three and four days before chipping!  I will definitely wear this nail polish again!

ULTA Pro "Island Hopper"

Hi everyone!  Now that Summer is in full swing I decided to pull out my favorite Summertime color: aquamarine/turquoise.  Wearing aqua/turquoise in Summer always reminds me of the beach (even when I am not there).  So my aquamarine of choice this week is ULTA Pro's "Island Hopper."  (Isn't the name so fitting for Summer!)

ULTA Pro (or ULTA Professional) is one of the store brands from (you guessed it!): ULTA Beauty.  Formula wise "Island Hopper" is wonderful!  After two coats of polish "Island Hopper" was completely opaque and had no streak marks.  As for chipping "Island Hopper" lasted about three full days before the chipping starting, and even then it was mostly tip chips.

Overall I am pretty pleased with ULTA Pro's "Island Hopper."  The formula is fantastic, the polish was completely opaque after two coats and I was able to wear it for three days before any chipping started.  I definitely plan on wearing the polish again!

Sephora by OPI "Techno Girl"

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone enjoyed their 4th of July (if you are American that is.)  I enjoyed an evening full of fireworks.  Last year Sephora retired their Sephora by OPI nail polish line, which was a bit sad, but it meant the polishes went on sale for a really great price!  So this week I decided to try out Sephora by OPI's "Techno Girl."

"Techno Girl" is a bright, hot pink, crème nail polish.  It is a blue based pink, almost a bubble gum color.  Formula wise "Techno Girl" is a bit on the watery side and it took a bit of patience to apply.  However after two coats the polish was completely opaque and had absolutely no streak marks.  As for chipping it started the second day, when "Techno Girl" started to chip off in medium sized chunks, which was a bit disappointing.

Overall I have mixed feelings about Sephora by OPI's "Techno Girl."  The color is lovely and it was completely opaque and streak free after two coats.  But the formula was a bit watery and it chipped after such a short time.  However I am willing to give this nail polish another try, and maybe next time it won't chip as quickly!

Nicole by OPI "Carrie'd Away"

Hi everyone and happy July!  I am getting super excited for the Fourth of July and I wanted to try out a sparkly nail polish to remind me of fireworks!  So I picked out a super gold glitter from Carrie Underwood's Nicole by OPI collection called: "Carrie'd Away."

"Carrie'd Away" is a gold glitter in a clear base.  It looks gorgeous in the bottle and did not disappoint on my nails!  However as a major glitter polish I was worried that it would not be opaque, but "Carrie'd Away" turned out to look nicely on my nails!  Formula wise "Carrie'd Away" was great and very easy to apply.  After two coats of polish "Carrie'd Away" was nearly opaque and the very small gaps caused by the glitter was nearly hidden by the glitter's shine.  As for chipping I don't know how long "Carrie'd Away" would last because extremely glitter nails are not acceptable where I work and therefore I had to take it off after only a short time.  I was a bit worried about removing "Carrie'd Away" because glitters can be a bit tricky.  But I was pleasantly surprised how quickly and easily this nail polish came off!

Overall I love Nicole by OPI's "Carrie'd Away"!  The color and glitter is gorgeous and it shimmers in the light, the formula is very easy to apply, and it came off quickly and without a lot of work.  I will definitely be wearing this nail polish again even if it is just for the weekend when I am off work!  Also "Carrie'd Away" is the perfect polish to wear to any formal event because it shines and looks good with just about anything!
