Covergirl "Blue Hawaiian"

Hello guys and happy Sunday!  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Blue Hawaiian."  I've had this color in my collection for a long time and couldn't wait to try it out!  Look how pretty the color is:

"Blue Hawaiian" is a gorgeous turquoise creme.  (My favorite color of all time!)  The formula of this nail polish was very good and easy to apply.  After two coats, "Blue Hawaiian" was fully opaque and only had one or two small streak marks.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Blue Hawaiian" for three days before I noticed some tip wear.  This color is even more gorgeous up close:

Overall I like Covergirl's "Blue Hawaiian."  The color of this nail polish is lovely and makes me very happy.  The only thing I would change is the wear time - but I have no plans for this nail polish to leave my collection anytime soon.

Dupes: Ciaté "Espadrilles" vs. Covergirl "Inferno"

Hi all and happy Saturday!  (Who else is enjoying a nice relaxing weekend?)  Today's nail polish is actually a comparison of Ciaté's "Espadrilles" and Covergirl's "Inferno."  The look so alike in the bottle that I knew I needed to compare them.  Here's how they look in the bottle:

Covergirl "Inferno" and Ciaté "Espadrilles."

In the bottle both nail polishes look nearly identical so I was curious how they looked on my nails.  After two coats both were opaque but Ciaté's "Espadrilles" was slightly more watery.  And just like the bottles I could not distinguish "Inferno and "Espadrilles" from each other.  In the macro below Ciaté's "Espadrilles" is on the left and Covergirl's "Inferno" is on the right:

Overall these two nail polishes are both stunning and gorgeous and are true dupes for each other.  I probably don't need both in my collection and given the choice I would pick Covergirl's "Inferno" just because the formula is slightly better.

If you want to know more about Ciate's "Espadrilles" or Covergirl's "Inferno" check out my previous posts.

Covergirl "Always Autumn"

Hey everyone and happy Friday!  I meant to post this yesterday but time go away from me!  But here's today's nail polish: Covergirl's "Always Autumn" which is perfect for the Fall weather.

"Always Autumn" is a really pretty dark dusty rose colored polish.  The formula of "Always Autumn" was fantastic and applied really easily to my nails.  After only one coat, this nail polish was completely opaque and streak free.  However I applied a second coat for the photos.  In terms of chipping, I was able to wear "Always Autumn" for five days before there was some noticeable tip wear.

Overall I really like Covergirl's "Always Autumn."  The color is stunning and the formula and wear time are fantastic!  You'll definitely see me wearing this nail polish again and again throughout Autumn and Winter!

Cornhuskin' Nail Art

Hi all and happy Saturday!  So today's nail art is something different as it represents a unique tradition from my alma mater, Meredith College.  I graduated in 2012 but the tradition of Cornhuskin' is known to all MCGs! (Meredith College Girls.)  If you want to learn a bit more about what Cornhuskin' is you can look it up on YouTube.  But in short it is a class competition featuring skits, dancing and acting as the main event.

First I needed to select some corny colors!  I picked out these beauties:

Next it was time to start my nails.  I used Lisa Lacquer's "Pineapple Smoothie" as the base yellow.  Here's how it looked after two coats:

Next I used some basic dotting tools from Amazon to create the corn detail using OPI's "Exotic Birds Do Not Tweet", Covergirl's "Sulfur Blaze" and Pahlish's "Hufflepuff."  Here's how turned out:

After that it was time to add the leaves in green.  I used two coats of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Green Thumb" for the leaves.  And after that I applied my quick drying top coat by Orly and my Cornhuskin' nails were done:

If you want to know more about Lisa Lacquer's "Pineapple Smoothie", Covergirl's "Sulfur Blaze" or SallyHansen Xtreme Wear's "Green Thumb" check out some of my previous posts!

Overall I love how they turned out and now I am all set to cheer on the current Meredith classes I the competition.  (Go evens!). Does your alma mater have any odd traditions or things that are uniquely theirs?  And if Cornhuskin' isn't your thing I'm pretty sure you can rock these for Thanksgiving!

Covergirl "Piña Colada"

Hello all and happy Father's Day to all who celebrate.  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Piña Colada" which is helping pretend every day this Summer is a day at the beach!

"Piña Colada" is a lovely pastel yellow polish.  Formula wise this nail polish was pretty good and applied well.  After two coats, "Piña Colada" was fully opaque with just a few streak marks.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Piña Colada" for five full days before noticed some minimal tip wear!

Overall I am really pleased with Covergirl's "Piña Colada."  Everything about this nail polish is nice and it looks so happy on my nails.  I definitely will wear this nail polish a lot more often!

Dupes: Covergirl "Rogue Red" and China Glaze "Riveting"

Hey guys and happy Saturday!  Where I live a lot of the high schools graduated yesterday so it is party weekend to celebrate!  Today's nail polish is a comparison post between Covergirl's "Rogue Red" and China Glaze's "Riveting."  I decided to test them both out because they look very similar in the bottle:

Covergirl's "Rogue Red" and China Glaze's "Riveting."

As you can see the polishes are very similar in the bottle but on the nail they are not exact dupes.  "Rogue Red" has the tiniest bit more red in the background color but both polishes are stunning in the shimmer department.  That being said while they aren't an exact match to each other you probably don't need both in your collection.

If you want to know more about China Glaze's "Riveting" or Covergirl's "Rogue Red" check out my previous posts.

Overall I really like both Covergirl's "Rogue Red" and China Glaze's "Riveting."  However, given the choice between them if I could only own one I would definitely go with China Glaze's "Riveting" because I like the brighter orange.  However both polishes were limited releases - "Riveting" for the movie The Hunger Games and "Rogue Red" for the second movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

Covergirl "Salt Water Taffy"

Hey all and happy Saturday!  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Salt Water Taffy" which I couldn't resist having as I love to eat real salt water taffy.  (It is one of the perks about living within a few hours drive of the coast!)

"Salt Water Taffy" is a really pretty pastel green that is a nice color for Spring.  The formula of this nail polish was quite watery and required me to wipe the brush off several times before placing it on my nail to ensure the polish didn't flood my cuticles.  After two coats, "Salt Water Taffy" was almost completely opaque but did have a few noticeable streak marks.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Salt Water Taffy" for three days before it began to flake off.

Overall I have mixed feelings on Covergirl's "Salt Water Taffy."  I wanted to love this polish because the color is really pretty but the watery formula really drags it down.  The being said I wonder is this polish would work for water marble or other nail art as I would hate to get rid of such a pretty color.

Covergirl "Violet Flicker"

Hello all and happy Saturday!  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Violet Flicker."  This nail polish was part of a limited edition collection honoring the movie The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

"Violet Flicker" is a deep purple polish with silver, purple and green shimmer and micro-glitter.  Formula wise this nail polish was fantastic and applied very easily to my nails.  After two coats, "Violet Flicker" was almost entirely opaque except for a few small spots on the tip of the nail.  As for chipping, I was able to wear this polish for three days before there were some noticeable tip chips.

Overall I like Covergirl's "Violet Flicker."  The color and formula of this nail polish was perfect and I think with a third coat added there would most likely be no streak marks.  I am definitely game to wear this polish again soon!

Covergirl "Seared Bronze"

Hi guys and a very happy Saturday!  I am enjoying the warm weather here in North Carolina and impatiently waiting for nail mail that is out for delivery!  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Seared Bronze" which was part of the limited edition collection that came out for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

"Seared Bronze" is a pretty shimmery bronze colored polish.  Formula wise this nail polish was very easy to apply.  After two coats of polish, "Seared Bronze" was mostly opaque except on the tips of my nail.  I added a third coat and everything looked perfect and there were no visible streak marks.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Seared Bronze" for four days before there were tip chips.

Overall I have mixed feelings about Covergirl's "Seared Bronze."  This nail polish has a pretty color and great formula but it was disappointing how quickly the polish chipped.  However I will probably give this polish another chance since the color is gorgeous!

Covergirl "Inferno"

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone has had a great weekend.  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Inferno" which is part of the special collection they released for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

"Inferno" is a gorgeous red nail polish with gold and orange shimmer in it.  Formula wise this polish was very easy to apply and looked great on my nails.  After two coats of "Inferno" was completely opaque and streak free.  As for chipping, I was able to wear this nail polish for three days before there were some minor tip chips.

Overall I am very pleased with Covergirl's "Inferno."  I plan on wearing this nail polish a lot more often.  I think it'll be perfect for this Autumn!

Covergirl "Scalding Emerald"

Hi everyone!  It's the day after Valentine's Day and it is snowing here in the South, which is actually just ice.  So I hope everyone else is having a warmer Monday than I am!  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Scalding Emerald" which is part of a special collection based on the film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

"Scalding Emerald" is a unique brownish-green glitter polish.  The color is actually much more green in the bottle but was quite a disappointment on the nail where it took on an ugly brown color with a yellow shimmer.  Formula wise "Scalding Emerald" was pretty easy to apply and went on in nice even coats.  After two coats the polish was completely opaque and streak free.  As for chipping I'm not sure how long "Scalding Emerald" would last because I didn't wear it very long because I wasn't a fan of the color on my nails!

Overall I am a bit disappointed by Covergirl's "Scalding Emerald."  The polish did have some pluses in the form of a good formula and it was completely opaque.  Unfortunately the downside was the color was terrible looking on the nail!  I probably won't be wearing this nail polish again any time soon!

Covergirl "#GlowStick"

Hi guys!  As October begins to wind down and we get closer to Halloween there are only a few pink nail polishes left for the month!  In case you're new to the game every October I wear only pink nail polish to show support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "#GlowStick."

"#GlowStick" is a neon hot pink nail polish.  Formula wise this polish was very easy to apply and could almost be worn as a one-coater, however I did apply a second coat for the pictures.  After two coats of polish, "#GlowStick" was completely opaque and streak free.  In terms of chipping I was able to wear this nail polish for about five full days before there were any noticeable tip chips.

Overall I really like Covergirl's "#GlowStick."  Everything about this nail polish is fantastic and looked great on my nails!  I plan on wearing this polish a lot more often!

Covergirl "Flamed Out"

Hi everyone!  Well today it is dreary and rainy out so I thought I would pick a bright fun nail polish to brighten up m day!  So today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Flamed Out."

"Flamed Out" is a bright orange glitter polish!  Formula wise "Flamed Out" was very easy to apply and looked great on my nails.  "Flamed Out" was completely opaque after two coats of polish and there were no visible streak marks.  As for chipping I was able to wear "Flamed Out" for about four days before the polish started to chip off.

Overall I am pleased with Covergirl's "Flamed Out."  Everything about this polish is great and I will definitely be wearing it again and again!

Covergirl "#RavingHot"

Hi guys and happy Monday!  Today's polish is Covergirl's "#RavingHot."  (Also I love the ironic use of the hashtag!)

"#RavingHot" is a gorgeous tomato red crelly.  A crelly is a nail polish that is part cream and part jelly and it creates a semi-transparent look on the nail.  Formula wise "#RavingHot" was fantastic and super easy to apply!  After two coats the nail polish was completely opaque and streak free!  As for chipping I was able to wear "#RavingHot" for around six days before there were some very minor wear and tear on the tips of my nails.

Overall I am very happy with Covergirl's "#RavingHot"!  Everything about this nail polish is fantastic!  I definitely plan on wearing this nail polish again and again!

Covergirl "Black Heat"

Hi everyone!  After having some ice earlier this week (and here in the South we don't do ice) it is nice to have the sunshine back!   Today's nail polish is Covergirl's "Black Heat" which is part of Covergirl's special The Hunger Games: Catching Fire collection that coincided with the movies release last year.

"Black Heat" is not surprisingly a black colored nail polish and it is has fun gold micro-glitter!  Formula wise "Black Heat" was wonderful and very easy to apply.  After two coats the nail polish was completely opaque and had no visible streak marks.  As for chipping "Black Heat" lasted about two days before the tip chips started and even then the chips were fairly small.

Overall I like Covergirl's "Black Heat" because I love when black nail polishes have a fun hint of glittery shimmer!  Also it has a nice formula that was easy to apply, it was opaque after two coats, and there were no visible streak marks!  The only downside to "Black Heat" was how quickly it chipped!  I would have loved have worn it longer, but I love the color and formula so much that I will definitely be wearing this nail polish again!

Covergirl "Rogue Red"

Hi everyone!  Happy almost Autumn!  (It is nice to finally have some cooler weather.)  This week I decided to try out Covergirl's "Rogue Red" which is part of Covergirl's special collection for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire that came out last November.

"Rogue Red" is a gorgeous bright red nail polish full of red and gold micro-glitter.  This polish just shimmers and shines in the light!  Formula wise "Rogue Red" is fantastic!  I was worried that all the glitter would make it difficult to apply but I need not have worried because it went on nice and smooth!  After two coats of polish "Rogue Red" was completely opaque and there were no visible streak marks.  In fact "Rogue Red" can almost be a one-coater it was that opaque!  As for chipping "Rogue Red" last about three or four days before the chipping became super noticeable and even then it was mainly tip chips.  Since this is a glitter polish I was worried it might be difficult to remove but thankfully it wasn't and it came right off without too much work!

Overall I am very pleased with Covergirl's "Rogue Red."  The formula is fantastic, the color is super pretty, it was very easy to apply and lasted three or four days before chipping!  For me this nail polish actually doesn't have any bad points!  I love Covergirl's "Rogue Red" and I will definitely be wearing it again!

Also a fun little side note Covergirl lists their nail polishes name in English, Spanish and French on their bottles and the Spanish name for this polish is "Rojo Fuego" which means "Red Fire" and I actually like that name better than "Rogue Red."

Covergirl "Skylight"

Hi guys!  Now that Summer is in full swing and the weather is lovely again I decided that I wanted my nails to match the gorgeous sky!  So I picked out Covergirl's "Skylight."

"Skylight" is a pastel sky blue polish and not only reminds me of the sky but also of UNC-CH's Carolina Blue.  (Go Tarheels!)  Anyways the formula of "Skylight" is fair, but after two coats the polish was not opaque and there were a lot of streak marks on my nails.  As for chipping "Skylight" didn't chip as much crack and leave horrible looking lines on many of my nails.  The polish lasted about two days before this happened, which was very disappointing.

Overall I not very pleased with Covergirl's "Skylight."  The color is the best part of this polish but the crack marks after only two days, the difficulty in getting a nice clean even coat and the fact that it was not opaque after two coats was all disappointing.  I am willing to try this polish out again but it is not one of my favorites.

Thanks for reading my blog!  :)

Covergirl "Sulfur Blaze"

Hi guys!  So now that June is in full swing and the sun is out all day long I decided to pick a nail polish that reminds me of the sun.  And I found just the perfect one a yellow glitter by Covergirl called "Sulfur Blaze."  This nail polish is part of the 2013 Catching Fire collection which came out shortly before the movie last year.

Like I mentioned above "Sulfur Blaze" is a yellow glitter, almost a gold color in the bottle.  It is a very pretty color and it shimmers in the sunlight.  The formula is pretty good for a glitter.  It is slightly on the watery side but that is good for a glitter polish because it makes it easier to apply.  After two coats of polish you could still see through "Sulfur Blaze" straight to my nails, especially on the tips, but there were no noticeable streak marks.  As for chipping it started to wear off my nails on day two, which is common for heavy glitter polishes because they tend to snag on anything and everything (even when you put on a topcoat!)  As for removing "Sulfur Blaze" it was surprisingly easy, especially considering all the glitter.  However I did find bits of glitter sticking to my hands for a day or two.

Overall I like Covergirl's "Sulfur Blaze."  The color is very pretty and the formula is nice which are two good things for a nail polish.  However I do wish it hadn't chipped so quickly and that I could have gotten it opaque on my nails.  (And yes I am aware that I could have done a third coat of polish instead of my usual two but I feared that it would make the nail polish too thick and would chip even faster!)  I will definitely be wearing Covergirl's "Sulfur Blaze" again this Summer because it just looks amazing in the sunshine!  (The picture above is in direct sunlight.)

Thanks for reading my blog!  :)

If you want to give this polish a go it's available on Amazon (affiliate link)

Covergirl "Lingering Spice"

Hi guys and Happy Valentine's Day!  Now Valentine's Day is all about red, pink and white with a bunch of hearts so I decided to pull out a fitting nail polish.  I went with Covergirl's "Lingering Spice" because it is a super pretty pinkish-red polish and it seems very happy and cheerful!

I purchased Covergirl's "Lingering Spice" last autumn when I heard several people say it was a dupe or very similar to butterLONDON's "Blowing Raspberries."  The price difference alone was enough to convince me to give Covergirl nail polish a try.  Covergirl costs about $5 (USD) a bottle while butterLONDON retails for $15 (USD) a bottle.  Covergirl's "Lingering Spice" has an amazing formula which was completely opaque after two coats and left no streaks on my nails.  Also the nail polish was very easy to control and didn't stain my skin when I touch up around my nails.  As for chipping "Lingering Spice" lasted four days and then I started to see small chunks coming off.  Removing this nail polish was very easy, which always makes my day!

Overall I am very pleased with Covergirl's "Lingering Spice"!  Aside from being a very pretty color "Lingering Spice" has a great formula and was easy to work with, was completely opaque after two coats and had no streaking, and lasted four days before chipping!

Thanks for reading my blog!  And have a Happy Valentine's Day!  :)

Covergirl "Pyro Pink"

Hi everyone!  So with the premiere of  Catching Fire this coming weekend I decided to try out one of Covergirl's new line of products, which are themed from the districts.  (And if you haven't read the books or seen the first movie all you really need to know is that Covergirl has a special beauty line to go with the new film Catching Fire.)  I purchased all nine of the nail polishes from the line but I am just now getting around to trying them out!  This week I decided to wear Covergirl's "Pyro Pink."

"Pyro Pink" is a purple and pink glitter polish.  It is very shimmery and shiny and it looks really neat on my nails!  The formula is okay but I had a hard time getting good brush strokes and the tips of my nails did not get covered as well as I would have liked.  After two coats of polish "Pyro Pink" was not completely opaque and while it left no streak marks it was a bit see-through on my nails.  As for chipping it started on day one with a few small chips and it only got worse from there.  By the end of day one "Pyro Pink" was chipped beyond repair and I removed the polish.  When it came time to remove this nail polish it was a nightmare!  With all the glitter it did not want to come off and especially stuck to my skin!  I spent quite some time trying to pry it off!

Overall while I love the color of Covergirl's "Pyro Pink" I was majorly disappointed by how quickly the polish chipped and that it wasn't completely opaque on my nails.  I am willing to wear "Pyro Pink" again and maybe next time it'll last longer for me!  I also hope that "Pyro Pink" does not set the tone for the other eight polishes in this collection!

Thanks for reading my blog!  :)

You can grab "Pyro Pink" for yourself on Amazon (affiliate link)
