Wet N Wild "Dream Poppy"

Hi everyone!  I meant this post to be for yesterday!  But I was having too much fun at the Outer Banks with my best friends!  So please forgive me for posting late!  On with today's nail polish which is Wet n Wild's "Dream Poppy."

"Dream Poppy" is a creamy coral colored nail polish and while the color is pretty I don't think the name fits the color because to me a poppy is red not coral.  (And I know that the name is such a minor part of the polish, but my design and art degree can't help but be bothered.)  The formula of "Dream Poppy" is slightly thick, which made it slightly difficult to apply.  After two coats of the polish was completely opaque and had only a couple minor streak marks which was most likely caused by the thickness of the nail polish.  As for chipping "Dream Poppy" lasted less than one day before the dents and smudges became to ugly to wear.

Overall I am not a fan of Wet N Wild's "Dream Poppy."  The thick formula caused application problems, streak marks and the layers on my nails were so thick that it caused dents and smudges.  In the end the only thing I liked about "Dream Poppy" was the nice coral color and color alone is not enough for me to wear this nail polish again.

Maybelline "Lime Accent"

Hi everyone and happy Saturday!  Now that all the leaves are back on the trees everything is so green again, so I decided to go with a green nail polish to match the trees!  Today's polish is Maybelline's "Lime Accent."

"Lime Accent" is a bright neon lime green nail polish.  Formula wise "Lime Accent" was very good and it was easy to apply.  After two coats of polish there were a fair amount of streak marks which caused "Lime Accent" to not be completely opaque.  (See my pointer finger for most obvious spot!) Like with many neon polishes "Lime Accent" has a matte finish when it dries, however I applied a quick drying topcoat that makes the polish extra shiny.  As for chipping "Lime Accent" lasted about three days before chipping.

Overall Maybelline's "Lime Accent" is a fair nail polish.  "Lime Accent" has a fun color and was easy enough to apply even if was streaky and not opaque and it lasted a decent amount of time before chipping.  But in the end "Lime Accent" is a decent enough polish that I will probably wear it again!

Julep "Kimberly"

Hi all!  With Spring brings all sorts of birds and each year in North Carolina the birds lay nests all over.  So to celebrate the birds I pulled out an eggshell polish!  So today's nail polish is Julep's "Kimberly."

"Kimberly" is the most gorgeous lavender nail polish with black glitter mixed in to create an eggshell look.  Formula wise "Kimberly" is fantastic and super easy to apply!  After two coats "Kimberly" was completely opaque and had no visible streak marks.  As for chipping "Kimberly lasted four days before I saw some minor chips.

Overall I am very pleased with Julep's "Kimberly."  Everything about "Kimberly" is great from the color to the formula to how long it lasted before chipping.  This nail polish will definitely be getting worn a lot more often!

ULTA "Celebutante"

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone is having a better day than I am.  (Lilly for Target was a total failure and then the Starbucks was OUT of coffee... which was impossibly odd.)  Anyways today's nail polish is ULTA's "Celebutante."

"Celebutante" is a pretty bright purple creme polish.  Formula wise "Celebutante" was very easy to apply and was completely opaque after two coats of polish.  There were also no visible streak marks.  As for chipping "Celebutante" lasted about three days before some minor tip chips started, and I was actually able to wear "Celebutante" for another day or so before the chips became very obvious.

Overall I am very pleased with ULTA's "Celebutante."  Everything about this polish was great from the formula to its durability and everything in between.  I definitely plan on wearing this nail polish again and again!

OPI "Live. Love. Carnival."

Hi everyone!  We are halfway through April and here in North Carolina the trees and flowers are all in full bloom, so I couldn't resist wearing a fun and bright polish!  Today's nail polish is OPI's "Live. Love. Carnival." which is from OPI's Brazil Collection.

"Live. Love. Carnival." is a gorgeous bright coral colored nail polish!  The formula of this nail polish is fantastic!  It was super easy to apply and was opaque after two coats of polish.  There were also no visible streak marks which is always great!  As for chipping "Live. Love. Carnival." lasted about three or four days before there were noticeable chips.

Overall I really like OPI's "Live. Love. Carnival."  This polish has a good formula, was easy to apply, opaque after two coats, no visible streak marks and it lasted a fair amount of time before chipping.  Also "Live. Love. Carnival." is a fantastically pretty coral colored polish and I will definitely be wearing it a lot more throughout the Summer!

China Glaze "Intelligence, Integrity, & Courage"

Hi all!  Today's nail polish is China Glaze's "Intelligence, Integrity, & Courage" (or "II&C" for short.)  This nail polish was part of China Glaze's Limited Edition collection to celebrate the move The Giver.

"II&C" is a lovely grey nail polish with a slightly blue-ish tint to it.  Formula wise this nail polish is good but just the tiniest bit watery, however it didn't affect the application too much.  After two coats of polish "II&C" was completely opaque and had no visible streak marks.  As for chipping "II&C" lasted somewhere between three and four days before there were visible tip chips.

Overall China Glaze's "Intelligence, Integrity, & Courage" is a nice nail polish.  The polish has a decently good formula, was easy to apply, and lasted a fair amount of time before chipping.  I definitely plan on wearing this nail polish again and again.

Essie "It's Genius"

Hi all!  This week has been super busy (can you say basketball tourney!) but I still found some time to paint my nails a pretty purple color!  So without any further ado today's nail polish is Essie's "It's Genius."

"It's Genius" is a gorgeous plum polish with a hint of golden shimmer.  The formula of "It's Genius" is very good and it was easy to apply.  After two coats of polish "It's Genius" was completely opaque and looked fantastic on my nails!  Even though this polish has a lot of shimmer in it there were visible streak marks, which is great.  As for chipping "It's Genius" lasted about three days before the chipping started.

Overall I like Essie's "It's Genius" because the color is lovely, the formula is good, it was easy to apply, looked nice on my nails and lasted a decent amount of time before chipping.  "It's Genius" is such a great polish that will be wearing it again!

Jesse's Girl "Glee"

Hi guy!  Now that it's April and the weather is finally warming up I have started thinking about Summer and hitting the beach so I dug through my collection and found a super fun beachy glitter by Jesse's Girl called "Glee."  Last Autumn I was at my local drugstore and I found a new (to me at least) brand of nail polish called Jesse's Girl.  It appears that Jesse's Girl is sold at a lot of Rite Aids.

"Glee" is a gorgeous super glittery nail polish that is made up of mostly blue glitter with a hint of yellow and green glitter.  Formula wise "Glee" is great and it was super easy to apply!  After two coats of polish "Glee" was completely opaque and there were no visible streak marks, which is fantastic for a glitter polish.  As for chipping "Glee" lasted for somewhere between three and four days, which I'm happy with because glittery polishes often get caught on various things and chip quickly.

Overall I am pleased with Jesse's Girl's "Glee."  I like everything about this polish because it has a fantastic color, was easy to apply, and lasted nicely before chipping!  I will definitely be enjoying this nail polish all Spring and Summer long!

Easter 2015 Nail Art

Hi everyone and happy almost Easter!  Since it is almost Easter I thought I would do a fun Easter Egg nail art to celebrate!  Growing up the Easter Egg hunt was always my favorite part!  The fun thing about Easter Eggs is that each egg is different and you can go as easy or as difficult of a nail art as you want!

To do this nail art I used nine nail polishes.  (Holy cow that's a lot of polishes!)  Here they are all lined up:

Now I'm going to break down each nail since I think that'll be the easiest way to explain how I did them.  However I started out each nail the same and that was with two coats of Finger Paint's "Dream I Can Fly" to create the sky background.  Then I added the eggs.

First up is my pointer finger and ring finger.  (Since they are similar I've decided to put them together.)  For my pointer finger I used Nicole by OPI's "Live In The Momentum" as the royal blue egg color and for my ring finger I used China Glaze's "Stoked To Be Stoked" as the bright orange egg color.  On both of these nails I used dotting tools to add the polka dots and stripes.  The polka dots and stripes are done in Julep's "Bunny."

Next up is my middle finger which has a nice simple sold color Easter Egg with glitter on top.  For the base color I used OPI's "50 Is The New Fabulous" and the glitter is Sephora Formula X's "Over The Moon."

The last finger is my pinky finger which has the simplest Easter Egg of all!  For this nail I used Julep's "Kimberly" which is a purple polish that has black glitter in it to create an eggshell look.

To finish out my Easter Egg nails I applied Maybelline's "Lime Accent" to the tips of my nails to create the look of grass.

I love this Easter Egg nail art because you don't have to be great with nail art to do it!  You can do complicated designs on the eggs, simple glitter, or find glittery or textured polishes to create eggs.  Also each egg can be a slightly different size and oval shape and still look great!

If you want more information about the polishes I have already reviewed on my blog here they are:

Formula X's "Over The Moon": http://perfectlypolished12.blogspot.com/2015/02/sephora-formula-x-over-moon.html

I hope everyone enjoyed my Easter Egg nail art!  Thanks for reading my blog and have a fabulous Easter!  :)

Sally Hansen's Sugar Shimmer "Berried Under"

Hi everyone and happy April!  (And no April's Fools jokes here, just nail polish!)  I'm so excited that it is April now because it means that Spring is now in full swing and it is getting warmer every day!  To help celebrate Spring I decided to test out a fun bubble gum pink nail polish!  Today's polish is Sally Hansen's Sugar Shimmer in "Berried Under."

"Berried Under" as I said before is a bubble gum pink polish but it special because it is part of Sally Hansen's textured collection called Sugar Shimmers.  It's texture is similar to sandpaper with a hint of golden shimmer.  "Berried Under" has a very unique look that I think is very fun!  Formula wise "Berried Under" was easy to apply which is fantastic since it has a sandpaper texture that makes you think the polish is going to be thick.  After two coats the nail polish was completely opaque and has no visible streak marks.  "Berried Under" also dried very quickly even before I applied a quick drying topcoat.  As far as chipping goes "Berried Under" only lasted a couple of days on my nails because the tips of my nails kept catching on things.

Since the nail polish is textured and I wanted to see how it looked before and after applying a top coat here is the before top coat picture:

(The after topcoat picture is the one at the top of the post!)

Overall Sally Hansen's Sugar Shimmer in "Berried Under" is a nice nail polish.  I love the fun unique color/shimmer/texture combination and how easy it was to apply to my nails.  My only minor complaint was how much this nail polish kept getting caught on all things fabric which caused me some annoyance.  In the end I like this nail polish and I would be willing to wear it again.
