Maybelline "High Style Sienna"

Hello all and happy almost weekend!  Who else is looking forward to the holiday weekend?  Today's nail polish is Maybelline's "High Style Sienna" which is part of their Vintage Leather collection.

"High Style Sienna" is a light chocolate brown color.  Formula wise "High Style Sienna" was fantastic and very easy to apply.  After two coats, the polish was entirely opaque and streak free!  In terms of chipping, I was able to wear "High Style Sienna" for six days before there were any chips.

As part of the Vintage Leather collection, "High Style Sienna" has a matte finish prior to top coat.  Here's how it looked, which I think it unique and very cool.

Overall I am very pleased with Maybelline's "High Style Sienna."  Everything about this nail polish is wonderful and I will certainly be wearing it a lot more often!

Maybelline "Shocking SEAS"

Hi all and happy Wednesday!  We're halfway through the week and the March Madness tournament gets going tomorrow!  (That's a basketball tournament is you aren't a sport's fan.)  Today's nail polish is Maybelline's "Shocking SEAS."

"Shocking SEAS" is a lovely dark teal colored polish.  Formula wise, "Shocking SEAS" was the tiniest bit watery but still fairly easy to apply.  After two coats, the polish was entirely opaque and had no visible streak marks.  As for chipping, I was able to wear "Shocking SEAS" for five days before there were a few tip chips.  However "Shocking SEAS" did leave some staining on my nails, which was disappointing.

Overall I like Maybelline's "Shocking SEAS."  The color, formula and wearability are great but I was definitely not a fan of how stained my nails were when I removed this polish!  That being said, I would be willing to wear this nail polish again but with a thicker base coat to try and prevent staining.

March Dupe Post: Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear "Coral Reef" and Maybelline "Coral Crush"

Hi everyone!  I hope everyone survived Monday!  (Who else is already ready for the weekend?) Today's blog is a comparison of Maybelline's "Coral Crush and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Coral Reef."  Both polishes are a bright coral color that look nearly identical in the bottle.

Formula wise both polishes were good, although Maybelline's "Coral Crush" was easier to apply. Both polishes were opaque after two coats and I had a very difficult time distinguishing the polishes from each other while on my nails.  When I took my nails into really strong natural light I was able to see that Maybelline's "Coral Crush" was just the tiniest bit darker but you really had to look.

Overall both Maybelline's Coral Crush" and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear's "Coral Reef" are great and are perfect for Springtime.  I believe they are essentially identical and you probably don't need both in your collection (unless you are a nail polish hoarder like myself.)  Both polishes are drugstore brands and are very affordable.

Nail Art: Monogram Nails!

Hi guys!  I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!  It has been a while since I have done a nail art so I decided today was the day to change that!  We have a saying in the South "If it ain't moving monogram it!"  So that's exactly what I have done with my nails today!

Maybelline's "Coral Crush" and Nocibé's "Chaud Cacao"

I love having everything monogrammed (and I do mean everything - from beach towels to cars I've had it monogrammed!)  The hardest part of this nail art for me was picking out colors!  I could think of so many great combinations but I settled on the classic pink and brown combo!  The nail polishes are Nocibé's "Chaud Cacao" as the base and Maybelline's "Coral Crush."  To create the letters and the polka dots I used a nail dotting tool I purchased on Amazon.  I also added in a nail gem which I got from a set from a store called Francesca's.

To complete this nail art I needed some basic supplies.  The supplies are pictured above and it includes various sizes of dotting tools as well as the pack of nail gems from Francesca's.

Overall it was harder than I thought to create letters using dotting tools.  I initially planned on putting my monogram on all of my nails but I settle for the accent nail (ring finger) for the monogram and polka dots on the other 8 fingers.  However I think the nail art turned out cute enough - though next time I might look into actual decals for the letters.

Maybelline "Clearly Spotted"

Hi guys!  We've almost made it to the weekend!  It has been a long week and I can hardly wait to relax and have an uneventful weekend.  Today's nail polish is Maybelline's "Clearly Spotted."

"Clearly Spotted" is a fun black and white glitter in a clear base.  The glitter comes in three different sizes with some pieces being round and others being hexagonal.  Formula wise this polish was surprisingly great and it apply easily.  Because "Clearly Spotted" is in a clear base coat it isn't meant to be opaque so I decided to test it out over a few other nail polishes.

The first polish I decided to try out with "Clearly Spotted" was OPI's "Look At My Bow!" which is a fun baby pink nail polish.  I think the combination turned out nicely and I received several compliments while wearing my nails this way.

The second nail polish I decided to try out with "Clearly Spotted" was Ciaté's "Shady Lady" which is a light silvery nail polish.  This combination turned out to be a nice neutral looking nail art.  It creates a grey scale that I like a lot.

Overall I am very happy with Maybelline's "Clearly Spotted."  The black and white glitter is very fun and reminds me of a Dalmatian.  I will definitely be wearing this nail polish again and I plan on trying it out over other colored polishes soon!

Maybelline "Amethyst Couture"

Hi all and happy Thursday!  I hope everyone is looking forward to a great weekend!  Today's nail polish is Maybelline's "Amethyst Couture."

"Amethyst Couture" is a gorgeous dark blue polish with a lot of silver glitter.  Formula wise this nail polish was good and very easy to apply.  After two coats, "Amethyst Couture" was completely opaque and had no visible streak marks.  In fact it covers so well it can almost be worn as a one-coater polish!  In terms of chipping, I was able to wear "Amethyst Couture" for five full days before there were a few minor tip chips.

Overall I am very pleased with Maybelline's "Amethyst Couture."  Everything about this nail polish is great and I can't wait to wear it again soon!  It is also a really great color for the Autumn season!

Christmas 2015 Nail Art

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas!  Since today is Christmas I decided to do a fun snowflake nail art, which is quite hilarious since it was a balmy 75 degrees outside today. (Maybe one day I'll see a white Christmas!)

Here are the polishes I used to create this snowflake nail art:

Maybelline's "Blue Bombshell," Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear's "White On," and Nails INC's "Trafalgar Square."

This nail art is very easy, but here's a quick run down of how I did it!  First I painted my nails with Maybelline's "Blue Bombshell" and allowed it to dry thoroughly.  Next I used Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear's "White On" with a dotting tool to create the snowflakes.  After the snowflakes had dried I applied a coat of Nails INC's "Trafalgar Square."  I then finished the design off with a quick drying topcoat.

Overall I really like how cute this nail art turned out!  And since I didn't get a real white Christmas I enjoyed having snowflakes on my nails!

butter LONDON's "West End Wonderland"

Hi everyone!  I can't believe that there are only ten days until Christmas!  Today's nail polish is butter LONDON's "West End Wonderland."  I bought this nail polish as part of a duo set that was available at ULTA for Black Friday 2014.  The set looks like this:

The Duo is part of the Steampunk Ball Collection ans the duo is called Golden Yard.

"West End Wonderland" is a gold glitter nail polish in a clear base.  Formula wise "West End Wonderland" is fantastic and it was very easy to apply.  After two coats the polish was fairly opaque for a glitter and sparkled nicely on my nails.

Since "West End Wonderland" has a clear base I decided to test it out over a a burgundy polish.  The burgundy nail polish I picked out is Maybelline's "Wine & Forever."  The combinations turned out nicely and is perfect for Christmastime!

Maybelline "Blue Bombshell"

Hi guys!  I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, and that going back to work today wasn't too difficult!  Today's nail polish is Maybelline's "Blue Bombshell."

"Blue Bombshell" is a gorgeous bright blue creme polish.  Formula wise this nail polish is great and was very easy to apply!  After two coats of polish, "Blue Bombshell" was completely opaque and streak free.  As for chipping I was able to wear this nail polish for about four days before there were some small chips.

Overall I am very happy with Maybelline's "Blue Bombshell."  Everything about this nail polish is lovely and I will definitely be wearing this polish again and again!

Maybelline "Wine And Forever"

Hi guys and happy Monday.  I hope some of you were able to catch the lunar eclipse last night, unlike me because it was too cloudy.  Since it was a blood moon I decided to pick out an oxblood colored polish to celebrate!  So today's nail polish is Maybelline's "Wine & Forever."

"Wine & Forever" is a gorgeous burgundy colored nail polish.  Formula wise "Wine & Forever" is very good and it was easy to apply.  After two coats of polish "Wine & Forever" was completely opaque and streak free.  As for chipping I was able to wear this nail polish for about four days before there were some visible tip chips.

Overall I am very happy with Maybelline's "Wine & Forever."  Everything about this nail polish is great and I will definitely be wearing this polish again and again!

Maybelline "Lime Accent"

Hi everyone and happy Saturday!  Now that all the leaves are back on the trees everything is so green again, so I decided to go with a green nail polish to match the trees!  Today's polish is Maybelline's "Lime Accent."

"Lime Accent" is a bright neon lime green nail polish.  Formula wise "Lime Accent" was very good and it was easy to apply.  After two coats of polish there were a fair amount of streak marks which caused "Lime Accent" to not be completely opaque.  (See my pointer finger for most obvious spot!) Like with many neon polishes "Lime Accent" has a matte finish when it dries, however I applied a quick drying topcoat that makes the polish extra shiny.  As for chipping "Lime Accent" lasted about three days before chipping.

Overall Maybelline's "Lime Accent" is a fair nail polish.  "Lime Accent" has a fun color and was easy enough to apply even if was streaky and not opaque and it lasted a decent amount of time before chipping.  But in the end "Lime Accent" is a decent enough polish that I will probably wear it again!

Easter 2015 Nail Art

Hi everyone and happy almost Easter!  Since it is almost Easter I thought I would do a fun Easter Egg nail art to celebrate!  Growing up the Easter Egg hunt was always my favorite part!  The fun thing about Easter Eggs is that each egg is different and you can go as easy or as difficult of a nail art as you want!

To do this nail art I used nine nail polishes.  (Holy cow that's a lot of polishes!)  Here they are all lined up:

Now I'm going to break down each nail since I think that'll be the easiest way to explain how I did them.  However I started out each nail the same and that was with two coats of Finger Paint's "Dream I Can Fly" to create the sky background.  Then I added the eggs.

First up is my pointer finger and ring finger.  (Since they are similar I've decided to put them together.)  For my pointer finger I used Nicole by OPI's "Live In The Momentum" as the royal blue egg color and for my ring finger I used China Glaze's "Stoked To Be Stoked" as the bright orange egg color.  On both of these nails I used dotting tools to add the polka dots and stripes.  The polka dots and stripes are done in Julep's "Bunny."

Next up is my middle finger which has a nice simple sold color Easter Egg with glitter on top.  For the base color I used OPI's "50 Is The New Fabulous" and the glitter is Sephora Formula X's "Over The Moon."

The last finger is my pinky finger which has the simplest Easter Egg of all!  For this nail I used Julep's "Kimberly" which is a purple polish that has black glitter in it to create an eggshell look.

To finish out my Easter Egg nails I applied Maybelline's "Lime Accent" to the tips of my nails to create the look of grass.

I love this Easter Egg nail art because you don't have to be great with nail art to do it!  You can do complicated designs on the eggs, simple glitter, or find glittery or textured polishes to create eggs.  Also each egg can be a slightly different size and oval shape and still look great!

Maybelline "Ruby Refined"

Hi everyone!  I'm sorry this post is a day late but I'm still prepping for Christmas and yesterday got away from me!  But I couldn't resist pulling out a glittery red nail polish to keep up the festive mood of the holidays!  So today's nail polish is Maybelline's "Ruby Refined."

"Ruby Refined" as I said above is a super glittery red nail polish with some gold glitter tossed in for fun!  The formula of "Ruby Refined" is good and it was fairly easy to apply, which is great for a glitter heavy nail polish!  After two coats of polish "Ruby Refined" was completely opaque and has no visible streak marks.  In terms of chipping "Ruby Refined" lasted for about two days before the polish on the tips of my nails started to chip off.

Overall I am happy with Maybelline's "Ruby Refined" because the color is very pretty, the formula is nice and it was easy to apply.  The only thing I wasn't so happy with was how quickly the nail polish chipped.  I love the color of the nail polish so much that I will definitely be wearing "Ruby Refined" again and again!

Maybelline "Drops of Jade"

Hi everyone!  I can't believe that Autumn is almost here and that the weather is beginning to cool off!  Today I decided to try out Maybelline's "Drops of Jade" which is part of their Polka Dots Collection.

"Drops of Jade" has a jade colored jelly base with multiple sized pieces of glitter in black and white.  Formula wise the jelly goes on nice, but the glitter sticks to the brush and refuses to go on the nail in anything near an even coat.  I tried dabbing the glitter on and still could not get an even coating.  Also since the base is a jelly it will never be opaque on its own.  As for chipping I'm not sure how long
Drops of Jade" would last because I didn't care for how it looked on my nail and promptly took it off.

Overall I am a bit disappointed with Maybelline's "Drops of Jade."  In the bottle you cannot tell that it has a jelly base and I expected to be able to wear this nail polish on its own.  Also I wish that the glitter would have gone on a bit better.  I definitely won't be wearing this nail polish again on its own but I was willing to try "Drops of Jade" as a topcoat.

I dug through my collection and found OPI's "Jade Is The New Black" (a classic well known OPI polish) and decided it would provide a nice base for Maybelline's "Drops of Jade."  I applied two coats of OPI's "Jade Is The New Black" and then one coat of Maybelline's "Drops of Jade."  Here's how it turned out:

I think this combination turned out okay, but Maybelline's "Drops of Jade" did slightly alter the gorgeous color that is OPI's "Jade Is The New Black" making it look a bit milky.  In the end I believe you could achieve this same look but buying a black and white glittered nail polish with a clear base coat and putting that on top of OPI's "Jade Is The New Black" and get a prettier design, and frankly that is what I would be more likely to do.

After looking at Maybelline's "Drops of Jade" on its own and over another polish I will probably not be wearing it again.  It looks far prettier in the bottle that it does on my nails and after all nail polish is meant to go on your nails and not to be viewed from the bottle.

Maybelline "Coral Crush"

Hi guys!  I hope everyone is enjoying Summer!  Around me the weather has been hot and sunny, which is fine by me because I am definitely not a Winter girl!  This week I decided to rock a fun and happy coral colored polish to celebrate the lovely Summer weather!  And that polish is Maybelline's "Coral Crush."

Maybelline's "Coral Crush" is a crème polish and it feels very summery!  Formula wise "Coral Crush" is okay, it wasn't too watery or too thick.  However the brush either held a lot of nail polish or none which made it a bit difficult to apply to my nails and caused a few streak marks.  After two coats of polish "Coral Crush" was opaque, which was nice.  As for chipping I started to see some minor tip chips on day two, but I was able to wear "Coral Crush" for about five days.  (3/9)

Overall I am pretty pleased with Maybelline's "Coral Crush"!  While the formula was just okay "Coral Crush" was opaque after two coats and lasted about five days before seriously chipping.  I wish that this polish was a bit easier to apply but I'm just so happy to be able to wear "Coral Crush" for five days that I definitely plan on wearing this polish over and over again.  (And who knows maybe it'll be easier to apply with some practice!)

Maybelline "Twilight Rays"

Hi everyone!  Sorry it has been a few days longer than I would have liked, but one of my best friends got married over the weekend and I had bridesmaid responsibilities!  The wedding turned out lovely and was tons of fun!  So I did my nails for the rehearsal dinner and then re-did my nails the next day for the wedding.  So for the rehearsal I decided to wear Maybelline's "Twilight Rays."  I like that is it black with a fun gold shimmer!

So to help Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" be easier to get off I decided to first do a coat of solid black nail polish and then one coat of "Twilight Rays" on top.  For the solid black nail polish I chose Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in "Black Heart."  "Black Heart" went on in one coat and covered very well!  I was super impressed and then Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" went on very easy as well.  I was worried the glitter would make the nail polish hard to handle but I am happy to report that that was NOT the case!  I was also worried that since this was black nail polish it would stain my skin and nails but it didn't and removing the nail polish was also very quick and simple!  For a glitter nail polish I was very impressed with how fast it was to remove!  As for chipping I honestly can't tell you because I only wore the nail polish 8 or 10 hours because I had to change it quickly for the wedding the next day.

As for how shimmery Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" is here is a picture of it in sunlight.  I found the nail polish to be very shimmer and fun!

Overall I am very happy with Maybelline's "Twilight Rays" and Sally Hansen's :Black Heart."  I plan on wearing both polishes again together and separate!
