Sally Hansen Big Matte Top Coat

Hi everyone and Happy November!  I cannot believe how quickly 2014 has flown by!  So earlier this year I came across this Sally Hansen matte top coat and I has been wanting to try out a matte top coat so I picked it up!  Also as far as top coats go this was under $6 (USD) so I figured I couldn't go wrong!  So to try out this matte top coat I've spent the last couple of months trying it out over several polishes in my collection!  Here's how it went:

The first polish I decided to try the matte top coat on was butterLONDON's "Lillibet's Jubilee" which is a silver shimmer polish.  I wondered how a shimmer would look as a matte and this nail polish didn't disappoint!  Sally Hansen's Big Matte Top Coat worked wonders on the silver shimmer of "Lillibet's Jubilee" and made it look like a pewter instead.  And I love how it turned out:

The second polish I decided to try out is Essie's "Mojito Madness" which is a super pretty green color!  Now when I tried this color out in March it had this gorgeous high gloss look and I wanted to see how it would look with a matte finish.  I think it turned out nicely:

The third nail polish I decided to test out is OPI's "Every Month Is Octoberfest" which is this gorgeous deep burgundy color with a lot of gold and burgundy shimmer.  I decided to test this polish with a matte top coat because I wanted to see how the shimmer would look.  I was surprised how much the matte top coat dulled the shimmer down, but it created this amazing deep burgundy/ oxblood nail polish!  Here's how it turned out:

The forth nail polish I decided to try is Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear in "Coral Reef."  "Coral Reef" is a bright coral colored crème polish and I decided to try it out with a matte top coat just to see how it would look.  (Basically I tried it because I could.)  Here's how it turned out:

The fifth, and last, nail polish I decided to try out is ULTA's "Ultra Violet Femme" which is a purple, neon, shimmer nail polish.  I wanted to see how a matte top coat would work with a neon polish.  Here's how t turned out:

Overall I am very pleased with Sally Hansen's Big Matte Top Coat!  It applies very easily and allows me to make a matte polish out of just about all of my nail polishes!  I love how well the Big Matte Top Coat worked on every nail polish I tried, but my favorite is definitely OPI's "Every Month Is Octoberfest" because it just looked amazing as a matte!  I cannot wait to try it out on even more polishes!

Finger Paints "Art Nouveau Nectarine"

Hi guys!  I can't believe Halloween is tomorrow and that October is almost over!  Since October ends tomorrow this will be my last pink nail polish post for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  (And a promise that next month there will be some other colored nail polishes that aren't pink!)  My final pink polish of October is Finger Paints "Art Nouveau Nectarine."  I am very excited to try out this polish because Finger Paints is a brand I have never tried before!

"Art Nouveau Nectarine" is a very pretty coral colored polish!  Formula wise "Art Nouveau Nectarine" is a a little bit thick, which made for thick coats of polish on my nails.  However after two coats of polish there were no visible streak marks and it was completely opaque on my nails!  "Art Nouveau Nectarine" began to chip after only two days, and I think it chipped so quickly because the polish went on so thick!

Overall Finger Paint's "Art Nouveau Nectarine" is a nice polish.  The color is very pretty, it was completely opaque after two coats of polish and it had no visible streak marks.  However it would have been nice if the polish wasn't quite as thick because then it would have been easier to apply and probably would not have chipped as quickly.  I am willing to give "Art Nouveau Nectarine" another try because I think will a little patience and practice I can probably apply thinner coats of polish to my nails.

Nails INC "Bruton Street"

Hi guys!  It is still October so I am still rocking pink nail polish in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  This month I have done a lot of brighter pinks so today I thought I would mix it up and wear a dusty pink polish.  After digging through my Rubbermaid bins I settled on Nails INC's "Bruton Street."

"Bruton Street" is a light dusty pink, that almost has a purple tint to it.  As for the formula it is slightly on the watery side, which made it a tiny bit more difficult to apply.  However after two coats of polish "Bruton Street" was completely opaque and only had a few minor streak marks.  In terms of chipping I was able to wear "Bruton Street" for three days before "Bruton Street" began chipping off in large chunks.

Overall Nails INC's "Bruton Street" is okay.  While the formula is slightly watery and the polish did chip after just three days "Bruton Street" was completely opaque after two coats of polish and had no visible streak marks and the color is very pretty.

Ciaté "Candy Floss"

Hi guys!  I can't believe it is almost Halloween!  I am looking forward to seeing all the cute costumes and eating the candy as I pass it out!  Today's polish is Ciaté's "Candy Floss" which I have in a miniature version.  I purchased "Candy Floss" as part of Ciaté's  2013 Christmas Advent Calendar.  The set looks like this:

"Candy Floss" is underneath number 9.

"Candy Floss" is a blue-based bubblegum pink polish.  The formula of "Candy Floss" is pretty good and it was very easy to apply.  After two coats of polish "Candy Floss" was completely opaque and had no visible streak marks.  As for chipping I was able to wear "Candy Floss" for five days before the tip chips started.  However it wasn't the tip chips that caused me to remove "Candy Floss" but rather the fact that my nails had grown and there was a gap up by my nail beds.

Overall I am very happy with Ciaté's "Candy Floss."  The formula is good and easy to apply, it was opaque after two coats and had no visible streak marks, it is a very pretty color and lasted five days before any chipping occurred and even then the chipping was very minor!  I will definitely be wearing this nail polish over and over again!

Rimmel London "Posh Pink"

Hi everyone!  I can't believe how quickly October is flying by and pretty soon it'll be Halloween!  But since it is still October that means another pink nail polish to celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  Today's polish is Rimmel London's "Posh Pink"

"Posh Pink" is a bright pink crème polish that would make a great color for Summer!  As for the formula "Posh Pink" was kind of watery and it made for super thick and uneven coats.  After two coats the polish was completely opaque but there were a lot of visible streak marks.  As for chipping that's impossible to say because "Posh Pink" refused to dry and smudged off my nails within a couple of hours.

Overall I am very unimpressed with Rimmel London's "Posh Pink."  The only thing I like about this polish is the color, and I am fairly confident that a similar color can be found by a different nail polish brand.  I definitely will not be wearing "Posh Pink" again any time soon!

Zoya "Tinsley"

Hi everyone!  It is still October so that means it is time for another pink nail polish!  Hooray for celebrating Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  Since I am back home in North Carolina the leaves have started to change and it definitely feels like Autumn has arrived.  I dug through my collection and found Zoya's "Tinsley" which seems to mix really well with the colors of the changing leaves!

"Tinsley" is a warm pink/red polish with yellow and orange shimmer in it and is gorgeous!  Formula wise "Tinsley" was good and after two coats of polish it was completely opaque.  However there were some minor streak marks but honestly it was barely noticeable because of the shimmer.  As for chipping "Tinsley" lasted less than a day before it started to look bad.  Even though "Tinsley" is a glitter it was fairly easy to remove, which was nice.

Overall Zoya's "Tinsley" is a fair nail polish.  Everything about it was great except for the fact that it chipped after less than a day!  I would be willing to give this polish another go and maybe next time it'll last longer!

OPI "Italian Love Affair"

Hi guys!  I can't believe we are halfway through October already!  But since it is still October that means another pink nail polish for Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  And today is an extra special post because it is also a Wednesday!  ("And on Wednesday's we wear pink!" to quote Mean Girls!)  Today I picked out OPI's "Italian Love Affair."

"Italian Love Affair" is a lovely baby pink polish with just a hint of shimmer and it almost a perfect match for the pink in the logo for Breast Cancer.  Formula wise "Italian Love Affair" is very good and it was nice and easy to apply.  After two coats "Italian Love Affair" was completely opaque and only had some very minor streak marks due to the hint of shimmer in the polish.  As for chipping it started shortly after I put it on and by the end of day two my nails looked so horrible I had to remove the polish.

Overall I like OPI's "Italian Love Affair" because the color is gorgeous and the formula is very good and easy to apply.  However I do wish I could have work "Italian Love Affair" for longer than two days before the chips looked so horrible.  I will be giving this polish another try and maybe next time I can wear it for more than two days.
